MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent old information from being mixed in new information as noise by arranging an erasure head at a position in preceding over a recording head or a recording/reproducing head on a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 12 is arranged in opposition to a magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium 11. The magnetic recording medium 11 is driven to the magnetic head 12 in the direction of arrow. The magnetic head 12 consists incorporatedly of the recording/reproducing head 14 and the erasure head 15. That is, a magnetic core 17 having a recording/reproducing gap 16 and a magnetic core 19 having an erasure gap 18 are bonded by clipping a spacer 20 made of a nonmagnetic material to be incorporated, windings 21, 22 are wound respectively on the magnetic cores 17, 19, a recording current is fed to the winding 21 at recording and a DC or AC erasure current is fed to the winding 22 at recording. A reproduced output is extracted from the winding 21 of the recording/reproducing head 14 at reproduction.
