Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the quality of steel products by using a vacuum degassing device provided with an immersion pipe formed by coating the inside and outside of a cylindrical mandrel with a refractory and by sealing the outside of the immersion pipe with gaseous Ar during degassing so as to prevent nitrogen from entering a molten steel. CONSTITUTION:This vacuum degassing device is provided with an immersion pipe 1 formed by coating the inside and outside of the cylindrical mandrel 4 with the refractory 5. A metallic cover 6 is placed around the pipe 1 and gaseous Ar is introduced into the space between the pipe 1 and the cover 6 from a gas introducing pipe 7 to seal the outside of the pipe 1 with the gaseous Ar during degassing.
