PAINT FOR CATIONIC ELECTRODEPOSITION COATING

PURPOSE:To provide the titled paint giving a coating film having excellent appearance and corrosion resistance, and containing an acrylic copolymer obtained by the polymerization of a nitrogen-containing basic acrylic monomer, an OH-containing acrylic monomer and other ethylenic unsaturated monomer, etc., and a COOH-containing melamine resin, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective paint contains (A) 40-90pts.(wt.) of an acrylic copolymer (or its neutralization product with an organic acid) obtained by polymerizing (i) 3-30(wt)%, preferably 6-15% nitrogen-containing basic acrylic monomer (e.g. dimethylaminoethyl acrylate), (ii) 0-10%, preferably 2-5% ethylenic unsaturated organic carboxylic acid and/or sulfonic acid (e.g. acrylic acid), (iii) 3-30%, preferably 5-20% OH-containing acrylic monomer (e.g. hydroxyethyl acrylate) and (iv) 30-94% other ethylenic unsaturated monomer (e.g. styrene) and (B) 10-60pts. of a melamine or benzoguanamine resin having COOH group.
