Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:A thermoplastic resin excellent in heat resistance, toughness, etc., good in moldability and suitable for, e.g., automobile parts, obtained by copolymeriznig a fumarate ester compound with a maleimide compound at a specified weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:A fumarate ester compound (A) (e.g., diisopropyl fumarate) such as a diester of fomaric acid with a 1-30C aliphatic monoalcohol, an alicyclic mnonalcohol or an aromatic monoalcohol and a maleimide compound (B) (e.g., N-phenylmaleimide) such as a monomaleimide of the formula (wherein R1 and R2 are each H, alkyl or a halogen and R3 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkaroyl or a halogen) are prepared. 10-90wt% component A is copolymerized with 90-10pts.wt. component B (the total being 100wt%) to obtain the purpose thermoplastic resin.
