FRICTIONAL DISC MADE FROM CARBON

PURPOSE:To provide a disc with higher shearing stress by forming a frictional disc by laminating ones yielded by cutting carbon fiber fabric into small pieces and combining them with carboneous matrix. CONSTITUTION:A carbon fiber fabric is cut into small pieces of 5 to 50mm., which pieces are impregnated with resin, laminated into a prescribed length in a prescribed mold, heated, and pressurized for their formation, and furthermore calcined for manufacturing a brake disc. Since, in laminating the fabric pieces, provided edge parts thereof are put in order strength of joining between adjoining parts 2 of said edge parts is reduced, the small pieces 1 of the fabric are such laminated that surfaces of the small pieces are partly overlapped to prevent the edge parts from being put in order. Hereby, yarn ends of the edge parts stick in the surface of the fabric, whereby shearing stress of the fabric in both directions thereof can be reinforced.
