Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To add nitrogen in high yield and at low cost while heating molten steel by forming in the electrode of an arc process a gas flow passage which is opened at the lower end of the electrode and discharging gaseous nitrogen toward molten steel through the gas flow passage. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel 4 discharged from a converter is charged into a ladle 2, an electrode 10 is immersed in slag 6 on the molten steel 4 and energized, an electric arc is thereby formed between the electrode 10 and the molten steel 4 to heat the molten steel 4, gaseous Ar is blown in from a porous plug 15 at the bottom of the furnace to agitate the molten steel and the molten steel is refined. In this arc process, a gas flow passage 12 is formed in the electrode 10 and opened at the lower end, gaseous nitrogen is discharged toward the molten steel 4 through the passage and nitrogen is added to the molten steel 4. Consequently, nitrogen addition and heating are simultaneously carried out and the molten steel 4 is efficiently added with nitrogen and refined. |
