Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To make possible the exact control of a cutting length by predicting the weight just prior to cutting of the succeeding cutting part from the relation between the drawing time of an ingot and the actually measured weight value of the cut ingot and determining the cutting length at which the target weight of the ingot is obtd. from the predicted value. CONSTITUTION:The ingot 1 drawn from a casting mold 4 to pinch rolls 6 is passed along a measuring roll 7 which applies the drawn length of the ingot 1 to a drawing time measuring part 11 of a calculator 10 to measure the drawing time in the block of the prescribed length of the ingot 1. An average drawing time calculating part 12 calculates the average drawing time from the read out information and a recurrence equation calculating part 13 determines the recurrence equation for the drawing time and the actually measured weight/ target weight corresponding to the part to be cut. A correction factor calculating part 14 determines the correction factor by substituting the average drawing time into the recurrence equation. A cutting length determining part 15 divides the length of the ingot to be cut next by the correction factor and outputs the determined value of the cutting length to a cutting control device 9. The exact control of the cutting length is thus made possible.
