Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To produce a large amount of menaquinone-4, by using a carotenoid dyestuff-forming varient of a bacterium belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, capable of producing menaquinone-4. CONSTITUTION:A carotenoid dyestuff-forming variant of a bacterium belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, capable of producing menaquinone-4 is cultivated in a medium, and menaquinone-4 is accumulated in the culture mixture. A bacterium (Corynebacterium liquefaciens ATCC14929, etc.) capable of producing menaquinone-4 is varied and a carotenoid dyestuff-forming variant is obtained to give a bacterium (Corynebacterium liquefaciens KS-8-18, etc.), which is used.
