Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 is group of formula II or CH2CH3; R2 is OH; R3 is H or together with R2 form a double bond; R4 is H). EXAMPLE:3'-Deamino-3'-(4-morpholinyl)13-dihydrocarminomycin. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:13-Dihydrocarminomycin is produced e.g. by culturing Actinomadura roseoviolacea R20 strain (FERM-P 7138) in a nutrient medium, filtering the culture liquid to separate the bacterial cells from the filtrate and extracting the filtrate with chloroform, etc. The product is dissolved in methanol, etc., made to react with a solution obtained by dissolving a diglycol aldehyde and sodium cyanoborohydride in a mixture of acetonitrile and water, extracting the reaction product with chloroform, etc., and purifying the extract by column chromatography to obtain the objective compound of formula I.
