SIMPLE CHAMFERING METHOD FOR SINTERED MEMBER

PURPOSE:To chamfer and duburr extremely easily a sintered member by molding a green compact of metallic powder for powder metallurgy and removing the burrs, etc. by shot blasting then sintering the molding. CONSTITUTION:Lead stearate powder as a lubricating agent is added to the powder of the metal or alloy for powder metallurgy and the green compact molding 1 such as, for example, connecting rod is formed by an ordinary compaction molding. This compaction molding is suspended in a shot blast device of a hanger type and is subjected to a shot blasting treatment by which the burrs 1b of the molding 1 are removed and acute angled parts 1a are rounded. The shape of the corner parts 1c of the molding 1 is trimmed by such treatment and thereafter the molding is put into a sintering furnace and is sintered. The sintered member such as connecting rod is thus produced without the need for the subsequent chamfering and deburring.
