Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To attain inspection of a character string having the assurance of a language with high accuracy by applying a paragraph dictionary having the corresponding length to the candidate character series having the length less than the fixed value and a position-based syllable dictionary to the candidate character series having the length larger than the fixed value respectively. CONSTITUTION:An acoustic recognition part 1 collates the input paragraph voices with a phoneme/syllable standard pattern 3 and forms a candidate lattice where plural candidate syllables are arranged for each syllable. The candidate lattice includes the candidate syllables and the acoustic resemblance degree of each candidate syllable. These candidate syllables are arranged in the order of higher resemblance degrees. Then the candidate lattice is sent to a candidate series selecting part 2 for reference to the syllable dictionaries 4-6 of 1-3 syllables in reslonse to the syllables included in the candidate lattice. While a position-based continuous syllable dictionary 7 containing the emerging possibilities of continuous syllable in paragraphs at each position is referred to 4 syllables. The dictionaries 4-7 are applied at the part 2 in response to the length of each paragraph of the candidate character series. Thus a character series having the highest assurance as a language is selected and delivered through the part 2.
