COMPLEX SUBSTANCE OF EXTRACT OF TEA LEAF AND ACTIVE ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE

PURPOSE:A complex substance of an extract of tea leaf comprising (-) epigallocatechingallate as a main component and active aluminum hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:Tea leaves are extracted with warm water or a hydrophilic organic solvent, washed with chloroform, the extracted component is dissolved in an organic solvent, the solvent is distilled away, the extract is dried, to give an extract of tea leaves comprising (-)epigallocatechingallate(EGCg) as a main component. Further, the extract is subjected to high performance liquid chromatography using reversed phase dispersion column partition chromatography to separate EGCg. It is dissolved in a hydrophilic solvent, preferably water. On the other hand, an alkali solution is added to an aqueous solution of aluminum chloride, etc., to give active aluminum hydroxide as a gelatinous water suspension, which is blended with the extract of tea leaves or an aqueous solution of EGCg, stirred, allowed to stand for 24hr to give a complex substance. It has antiulcer action, anti-pepsin action and acid control ling action and has improved effect and safety as a remedy for peptic ulcer.
