SEALED TYPE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To prevent external short circuit and increase leakage resistance by forming a rising part of insulating gasket along the outer surface of bent edge of metal sealing plate and pressing the opening and of a metal case against the rising part. CONSTITUTION:A rising part 3 of an insulating gasket 1 which is molded together with a metal sealing plate 2 is formed along the outer surface of the bent edge of a metal sealing plate 2. An electricity generating element 8 comprising a positive electrode 5 and a negative electrode 6 and a separator 7 is accommodated in a metal case 9 which also serves as a positive terminal. After other parts are fitted to the opening of the metal case 9, the opening is bent toward an insulating gasket 1 to seal a battery. The opening edge of the case 9 is brought into close contact with the rising part 3 of the gasket 1 to form a sealing part C.
