THERMAL RECORDING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To prevent sticking at the time of recording by a thermal head, by forming a thermal layer containing thermoplastic resin particles having specific min. film forming temp. and a dye or pigment or these components and a water soluble resin on a support and providing an overcoat layer containing a silica powder having specific oil absorbancy on said thermal layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal layer containing thermoplastic resin particles having min. film forming temp. of 80-150 deg.C, a dye or pigment and a water soluble resin is provided and an overcoat layer is further provided on said thermal layer by using a silica powder with oil absorbancy of 200ml/100g or more and a proper binder. By this method, the sticking of the thermal layer to a thermal head can be prevented and sharp recording is enabled. The ratio of the thermoplastic resin particles, the water soluble resin and the dye or pigment in the thermal layer is about 1:0.1-9:0.01-5 and the proper ratio of silica and the binder in the overcoat layer is about 1:0.2-3. A support to be used is pref. a water resistant one.
