UPPER VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE IN AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE:To realize satisfactory compartment between the passenger's compart ment and the trunk room in a soft top type upper vehicle body structure, by dividing a rear package tray into front and rear trays which are hinged together, so that the longitudinal length of the rear package tray is made to be variable at the dividing section as a boundry. CONSTITUTION:A cabriolet type automobile is provided with a foldable soft top which is formed such that a hood D is stretched on foldable rib members and is provided with an hard board type rear window pane 41 such as, for example, a glass pane. In this arrangement, a rear package tray 51 defining a passenger's compartment and a trunk room 60 is divided, at the position at which the soft top is used, into front and rear trays 52, 53 which are rotatably coupled together with the used of a hinge 54. Further, the front tray 52 is coupled to the vehicle body by means of an L-like bracket 55, rotatably about a pin 56, while the rear tray 53 is coupled to a frame 41b for the rear window pane 41 by means of a bracket 58.
