DISK-SHAPED RECORDING MEDIUM RECORDER

PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent disk-shaped recording medium recorder which has high durability with no troublesomeness, by using an unrecorded area detector having a high response speed to check the unrecorded area with high accuracy and at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:When an unrecorded area detector 6 detects a recorded track, a system controller 5 sends a command to a jump pulse generator 9. Thus an optical pickup 3 jumps over tracks and moves forward through an optical pickup driving circuit 10. At the same time, the detector 6 checks whether each track is already recorded or not and detects the recorded tracks. Then the controller 5 stops the jumping movement of the pickup 3 and reads addresses through an address detector 4. The read address information is sent to the controller 5 in the form of the information that shows a recordable area. In this case, it is needed to shift the pickup 3 at a speed with which the detector 6 can perform its detecting action in response to the response speed of the detector 6 even in case just a single truck is recorded.
