METHOD FOR ADJUSTING WEAR-PROFILE OF WORK ROLL

PURPOSE:To smooth a wear profile of work roll and to improve a roll basic unit by moving a work roll in its axial direction so as to provide a wear profile capable of offsetting a thermal expansion profile produced in the work roll, to the work roll. CONSTITUTION:In a four-high mill provided with work rolls 6, 6' and backup rolls 7, 7', a pattern, for moving the work rolls 6, 6' in the axial directions so that the wear profiles capable of offsettig the thermal expansion profiles of the wrok roll 6, 6' which are expressed by a quartic function are provided to these rolls, with the aid of a computer 1 by using the rolling information about a material of rolling stock 8, a rolling temperature and a pass schedule, etc. is decided. With the advance of rolling, work roll positions S are outputted to computing elements 2, 2' from the computer 1 based on said pattern, to compare the detected values SU, SL of work-roll position detected values 3, 3' with the values S in order to obtain the deviations DELTASU, DELTASL between them. Based on said deviations, work-roll position controlling devices 4, 4' correct the positions of work rolls 6, 6' through work-roll moving devices 5, 5'.
