PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC DISK MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of ruggedness, projections and pinholes on the surface of a coated magnetic film by changing the rotating speed of a disk substrate in the stage of shifting a coating stage for a magnetic paint into a shaking-off stage and the rotating speed of the disk substrate in the stage of shifting an orienting stage into a rotary drying stage respectively within the specific time. CONSTITUTION:The rotating speeds are slowly changed by taking long time of about 3-15sec in the respective stages of shifting the coating stage to the next shaking-off stage, shifting the shaking-out stage into the orienting stage and shifting the orienting stage into the drying stage. The excessive magnetic paint is already shaken off and the rotating speed is preferably decreased by taking time as much as possible in the stage of shifting the shaking-off stage into the orienting stage. The speed is required to be slowly increased by taking about 3-15sec time in the stage of shifting the orienting stage into the drying stage. The coated magnetic paint is nearly dry at the point of the time when the drying stage ends and therefore the cause for the defect of the coated film is obviated even if the disk substrate is instaneously stopped in a short period in the stage of stopping the rotation of the disk after the end of the drying stage.
