MANUFACTURE OF FRP BAR

PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture a high-quality FRP bar by a method wherein a sheet-shaped prepreg, which is obtained by cutting open a tubular prepreg in the direction of the axis of a mandrel under un-cured state, is chopped in the form of tape with arbitrary width and piled up in a molding split die and finally heated under pressure. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg consisting in cross-winding yarn tape onto an anvil 6 is cut off in the direction of the axis of the anvil 6 at a cut-off portion 8 with a cutter knife or the like in order to obtain a sheet-shaped prepreg 9. The sheet-shaped prepreg 9, which consists of resin-impregnated yarn tape piled up with an arbitrary angle and interlocked in cross-wound state, is chopped in the form of narrow tape and piled up in a tubular molding split die in order to obtain a FRP bar by heating under pressure. By the above-mentioned method, various machinings of a product can be done easily and lightly, resulting in enabling to efficiently realize the small quantity and large quality production of bars with excellent strength.
