Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain an even track pitch by recording a specific frequency signal to a prescribed position of a recording track in a recording mode and at the same time controlling the displacement degree of a magnetic head according to the crosstalk amount of said specific frequency signal of an advance recording track by a position control system and then changing also the frequency of said specific signal when the driving speed of a recording tape is changed. CONSTITUTION:A specific frequency f5 obtained at the output side of a 1/n divider 36L is set at a comparatively high level 230kHz, for example. While the frequency f5 obtained at the output side of a 1/m divider 63S is set at a comparatively low level 80kHz, for example. This is due to a fact that the crosstalk amount of the frequency f5 is increased as the frequency is reduced. While a mobile contact 62a of a normal/long-time changeover switch 62 is connected to a fixed contact 62S at the normal side in a normal video recording mode and then to a fixed contact 62L at the long-time side in a long-time video recording mode by the output signal of a normal/long-time video recording changeover control circuit 64 for a prescribed single horizontal scan period 1H of a vertical flyback period.
