Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To form continuously a cast sheet in a perfectly noncontact-solidifying state by actuating an electromagnetic pressure on a molten metal horizontally discharged from a nozzle tip from the upper and lower sides of the metal to solidify it by direct cooling while keeping the molten metal in a suspended state. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle tip 10 with an opening of slender, rectangular cross section, corresponding approximately to the cross-sectional shape of an aimed sheet-shaped ingot is provided to the side wall of a tundish 2, and a molten metal 4 is horizontally discharged as a lamellar molten-metal flow. At that time, the lamellar flow of metal 4 is kept in a suspended state by the action of the electromagnetic pressure of a lower electromagnetic coil 14, and a pulsation produced in the upper surface flow is restrained by using an upper electromagnetic coil 12 as a restraining electromagnetic coil to make the surface flow into a free surface. Next, the molten metal is cooled and solidified by the cooling water discharged from a cooling water jacket 18, and a cast sheet 20 is taken out by pinch rolls 22. |
