Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of an engine-stop when a vehicle is started, by providing a combustion speed control means which decreases a speed of mixture combustion on the basis of information from a start detecting means when the vehicle is started under the specific speed of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 100, if it detects the starting of a vehicle, feeds a control signal OCh to a solenoid valve 32. Here a mixture, with which a combustion chamber 7 is charged, comes to be placed in a lean condition by supplying intake air of excessive proportion to a main intake passage 25 because fuel from a fuel injection valve 39 is controlled so as to obtain predetermined air-fuel ratio. As the result, the maximum value of combustion chamber pressure provides a combustion chamber pressure characteristic after the top dead center because a combustion speed of the mixture in the combustion chamber 7 decreases. In this way, generation of an engine-stop can be effectively reduced when the vehicle is started.
