Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To reduce the variance of the gap length in manufacturing a head with the use of 'Sendust(R)' by executing track working and glass molding, polishing the surface of glass, then boiling and melting the molded glass so as to remove it and forming the gap. CONSTITUTION:After the molded glass is flowed into track grooves 3 and 3' of the 'Sendust(R)' bar 1 provided with a track 2 and a coil groove 4, gap surfaces 5 and 6 are polished. After the molded glass is boiled and melted in water, a SiO2 film 7 is formed 700Angstrom in thickness on a base, and thereon a borrosilicate glass 8 500Angstrom in thickness is formed at a working temperature of 820 deg.C by sputter deposition. Then, after two 'Sendust(R)' bars provided with two layers film are faced and press-contacted so that their gap surfaces will not cause the track dislocation, they are heated up to 820 deg.C under inert gases, melted and jointed. With the track-worked part downward, the thin bar 9 made of borosilicate glass is inserted into the oil groove, melted under the inert gasses, flowed into the track groove to be molded.
