PREVENTION OF NOZZLE CLOGGING OF MOLTEN STEEL PAN

PURPOSE:To prevent the sintering of the packing material packed into an upper nozzle in the bottom of a ladle and to decrease the nozzle clogging by coating preliminarily graphite on the inside surface of the above-mentioned upper nozzle and receiving brick. CONSTITUTION:The graphite 9 is coated to the receiving brick 7 and upper nozzle centering at the pouring port of the molten steel ladle 1 and to part of a refractory brick 6. The sandy packing material 10 consisting of silica sand, alumina grains, silicon sand, etc. is thereafter packed therein. The film of the graphite 9 is formed between the inside surface of the upper nozzle and the inside surface of the receiving brick 7 and therefore the sintering of the packing material 10 and the upper nozzle receiving brick 7 is prevented even if the material 10 melts when the molten steel is poured into the ladle in succession to the above. The ladle nozzle clogging is thus prevented.
