CLOSING GEAR FOR HATCH COVER

PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a rack part member to be fixed to the underside surface of a hatch cover panel at the intersection of the rack part member and a compression bar by installing the gear of the rack part member at a place apart from the intersection on both inner and outer sides by the distance of a pitch. CONSTITUTION:On the underside panel of a hatch cover panel 12, a compression bar 4 for sealing is installed with a gasket 3 designed for working jointly with it attached to the top surface of a hatch edge member 11. An arm member 14 is installed so that it extends to the lefthand side from a hard wall 15 located at the left end of the hatch cover panel 12. A rack member 1 and a rack extension part 1E are installed on the underside surface of the hatch cover panel 12 and the arm member 14 in such a way as to sandwich the bar 4 but at a distance equivalent to a pitch p of the gear tooth 5 of the rack 1 from the bar 4. When a pinion 2 engaging with the gear tooth 5c at the left end of the rack extension part 1E starts rotating, therefore, the arm part 14 and the hatch cover panel 12 move leftward. At this time, the pinion 2 also engages with the bar 4, with the bar 4 playing the role of the gear tooth 5.
