Zusammenfassung:	NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is 1-10C alkyl, ester, carboxyl, or its salt; R is 1-10C alkyl or alkenyl). EXAMPLE:4-(2-Octenyl)-5-(6-carbonyloxyhexylidene)-cyclopentenone methyl ester. USE:Pharmaceuticals. It has excellent carcinostatic and antiviral activities, and is useful as a carcinostatic agent or a synthetic intermediate of known natural clavulone and claviridenone having strong carcinostatic activity. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I wherein R and R can be prepared by (1) reducing and eliminating the PhSO group of the sulfoxide compound of formula II (R is 1-10C alkyl or ester; R is OH-protecting group) to obtain the cyclopenetanone compound of formula III, (2) methanesulfonylating the product to the mesylate compound of formula IV, (3) treating with a base to effect the first elimination reaction, and (4) treating the resultant compound of formula Vwith an acid to effect the second elimination reaction.
