Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To change the layout of recording with respect to a recording paper and to obtain a record which is easy-to-see and easy-to-file by sampling pattern data in memory in the longitudinal or lateral direction with the aid of a controller corresponding to the state of a changeover switch so as to transmit it to a printing part. CONSTITUTION:When the changeover switch 50 is in the off-state an I/F controller 40 samples the pattern data D1 in the lateral direction so as to transmit it to the printing part 60. If prints the data in the lateral direction on the recording paper, which is arranged with its longitudinal side longer, based on transmission data, thereby obtaining the record D2. When the changeover switch 60 is in the on state, the I/F controller 40 samples the pattern data D1 in the longitudinal direction, and transmits it to the printing part 60, which executes printing based on the transmission data. Thus the record D3 can be obtained.
