Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To produce a steel sheet having a smooth surface characteristic without disturbing a molten metal bath by allowing a molten steel to overflow from a molten steel discharge gate of a molten steel tundish, solidifying the molten steel on the molten metal bath and drawing-out continuously in the from of the thin sheet by rollers. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel (a) is supplied from a ladle 1' into a tundish 1 and contacts with a dummy sheet 8 inserted to the top end of the discharge gate 2 when the molten steel (a) rises up to the height of the gate 2. The molten steel solidifies and the thin steel sheet sticks to the sheet 8. The molten steel flows out as overflow from the gate toward the molten metal bath when the sheet 8 is drawn out in an arrow C direction. The out-flowed molten metal is cooled by a large temp. difference and the high heat transfer characteristics of the molten metal by which the molten steel is quickly solidified from the bottom surface. The solidification is completed in the entire section of the molten steel and the thin sheet is formed in the outlet of the molten metal bath 3 by adjusting adequately the outflow thickness of the steel (a) and the drawing-out speed of the sheet 8 and the length of the bath 3. The solidified thin steel sheet is drawn out in the horizontal direction at the speed adjusted by drawing-out rollers 10.
