Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material excellent in black color-forming property, as well as in the light resistance and moisture resistance of color pictures by including a fluoran compound as a color-forming agent, as represented by a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:A fluoran compound of the formula, where R is methyl or ethyl group and R is propyl or butyl group, which is a colorless compound, is colored into a deep black color by phenol-formalin resin or benzyl p-hydroxy benzoate. The benzo-fluoran compounds may be used solely or in combination of two or more as color-forming agents for pressure-sensitive copy papers, thermal recording papers, etc., together with colorants exhibiting well-known various hues.
