Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:In producing the titled compound useful as violet perfume for common cosmetic from beta-ionone as a raw material, to improve yield in improved selectivity industrially advantageously, by using a rutheniunm carbon catalyst. CONSTITUTION:beta-Ionone is reduced with hydrogen in the presence of a ruthenium carbon catalyst as a catalyst. In the reduction with hydrogen, a raw material compound is blended and dispersed with the catalyst, and fed to an autoclave. After the feeding is over, the interior of the autoclave is replaced with hydrogen, and hydrogen is sent to it by pressure until hydrogen pressure becomes 30-40kg/cm .
