MULTI-SPINDLE MACHINE TOOL

PURPOSE:To provide a multi-shaft machine tool with good processing efficiency and easy response to different types of works processed, by forming a base frame, supporting a tallet head, with possibility of moving for a certain specified angle with respect to the advancing direction of the base frame. CONSTITUTION:When an index table 22 is moved along a feed unit 20 in the A direction by operating a servo motor 18 so as to advance a crank shaft W, also a tallet head 38 on the table 22 moves to the shaft W, and a drill 46c bores a preparatory hole for tapping in the end face of the shaft W. When the hole is made, the motor 18 is reversed to move the head 38 in the B direction, and upon retraction from the shaft W a motor 28 is actuated to shift an index table 24 along guide rails 32a, 32b in the C direction through the action of a ball and screw mechanism, and a tool 46b is fronted to the end face of the shaft W. Then the motor 18 is operated regularly to advance the head 38 in the A direction, and upon spraying into the preparatory hole from a nozzle 46b tapping is carried out with a tool 46a.
