Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a chewing gum having the shape of composite fiber, having excellent taste and improved density and shape-retainability, keeping the shape in the palate for a long time, by using beta-lactose as a part of the additive to be added to a candy component in the preparation of the above chewing gum. CONSTITUTION:beta-Lactose is mixed with other sugars (e.g. sucrose, maltose, starch syrup, etc.) and water, boiled down at about 150 deg.C, cooled, and added with flavors, etc. to obtain a candy. The amount of the beta-lactose is adjusted to be about 10-30wt% in the obtained candy. The candy is melted, and supplied together with a separately prepared molten seasoned gum base to the spinning part (e.g. rotary cylinder) of a conventional cotton candy machine to produce a chewing gum product having the shape of composite fiber.
