EXHAUST GAS TREATING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To enable the purification treatment of exhaust gas within a heat resistance temp. range even if excessive air is not introduced, by filling and mixing the oxidizing catalyst packing layer of exhaust gas containing a combustible substance with a granular inert substance. CONSTITUTION:A packing layer packed with an oxidizing catalyst is arranged so as to be separated into two stages, that is, a first packing layer and a second packing layer while a heat exchanger is arranged between two packing layers and the first packing layer is mixed and filled with a granular oxidizing catalyst and a granular inert substance. In this packing layer, 20-80% of the combustible substance in exhaust gas is subjected to oxidizing treatment and, after heat removal of the exhaust gas is performed by the heat exchanger provided to the rear part of said packing layer, the treated exhaust gas is passed through the second packing layer homogeneously packed with the oxidizing catalyst and the residual combustible substance therein is subjected to perfect oxidizing treatment. The granular inert substance in mixed in a ratio of 1:1-20 to the catalyst such as alumina, silica or titania.
