PURPOSE:To eliminate missing of a picture at random access by outputting a picture plane just before the start of random access on a monitor television while a reproducer pickup moves between two tracks. CONSTITUTION:In applying random access to a video disc device 2, a control signal commanding the random access to an object track is inputted to the device 2. A CPU1 opens a switch S1 of a selector 11 and sets a switch S2 to the position of a monitor television receiver 12. Then the reproducing signal on a frame memory 7 is demodulated and inputted to the television receiver 12 via the 3rd interface circuit 9 for the period of one share of picture planes by a CPV1. That is, the picture is reproduced. While the video disc device 2 performs random access in this way, the picture just before random access recorded in the frame memory is reproduced as a still picture, then the missing of picture at random access is eliminated.
