DIGITAL AUDIO DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve a muting function and to reduce the quantity of processing of information of a microcomputer by comparing the counted value of the number of errors of an audio signal converted to a digital signal and a held mute-on value and mute-off value, and obtaining a mute controlling signal by performing set/reset operation of a latch circuit by the output. CONSTITUTION:An error signal E supplied from an error detecting circuit in the state of initial setting is counted by an error counter EC. When the counted value exceeds the mute-on value, this is detected by a digital comparator DC1 and a flip-flop circuit FF is set. Consequently, a mute control signal Mute is formed and mute is applied to an audio output signal. When the number of errors of read digital signal becomes less than the mute-off value, this is detected by a digital comparator DC2, and the flip-flop circuit FF is reset. Thus, the mute control signal Mute is released, and the audio output signal is sent out again.
