PRODUCTION OF SLIDING PARTS

PURPOSE:To form integrally a sliding part consisting of a fiber-reinforced composite metallic material to the end of a part by disposing the compressed body of inorg. fibers into the bottom in a die for molding said part, pouring a melt of Al, etc. into the die and molding the part under pressure. CONSTITUTION:Inorg. fibers 40 such as carbon fibers or the like are disposed between a die 20 and a lower punch 30 and are compressively molded down to prescribed volume by means of an upper punch 10 and the lower punch 30. Such inorg. fiber compressed body 400 is disposed in the bottom part of a space 500 for molding in a die 200 and the melt of an Al alloy, etc. is poured into the space 500. A pressure is exerted thereto by an upper punch 400 and a lower punch 300. The sliding part such as a rotating ring or the like having the sliding part formed of the fiber-reinforced composite Al material only in the end part is thus obtd.
