EXAMPLE:4'-Chloro-2,2-dimethyl-3-phenylpropionylanilide. USE:An agricultural and horticultural fungicide effective to control various blights of agricultural and horticultural plants (e.g. blast of paddy rice plant). PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared in high yield by reacting the acid chloride of formula II with the aniline compound of formula IIIin a nonpolar solvent such as benzene in the presence of an acid acceptor such as triethylamine at a temperature between the room temperature and the boiling point of the solvent.
