Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To enable display overall uniform in quality and free from unevenness and high in contrast and good in recognizability even through matrix address driving by forming resin films on a pair of transparent electrode bases on the sides in contact with liquid crystals, and rubbing the surface of each of said films in the prescribed direction. CONSTITUTION:A film 3 of a polymer of a triazine monomer and bismaleimide is formed on a transparent conductive In2O3 electrode 2 formed on a transparent glass base 1. The film 3 is rubbed in the prescribed direction with cloth. These bases 1, 4 are opposed so as to cause both rubbing directions to cross each other at right angles, and nematic liquid crystals having positive anisotropy or a mixture 7 of said liquid crystals and an optical activator are sealed in. A linear polarizing plate 8 is pasted to the outside of the base 1 so as to arrange its polarizing axis in parallel to the rubbing direction. Another linear polarizing plate 9 is pasted to the outside of the base 4 so as to arrange its polarizing axis in parallel to the rubbing direction.
