ROLLING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To make the elastic deformation of a work roll uniform and to maintain a well sheet-thickness distribution by making the barrel length of a work roll equal to or larger than the sum of the shifting quantity of the work roll and the barrel length of a backup roll. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling device wherein a pair of upper and lower work rolls 1, 2 made shiftable in their axial directions, are supported by backup rolls 3, 4 respectively; each barrel length lW of work rolls 1, 2 is made equal to or larger than the sum of each barrel length lB of backup rolls 3, 4 and the prescribed shifting quantity of the work roll. Therefore, the wears of work rolls 1, 2 are averaged, and the contact lengths between work rolls 1, 2 and the backup rolls 3, 4 are always kept constant respectively, and further the elastic deformations of rolls 1, 2 are made uniform.
