Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To prevent rotational frequency from reduction by keeping closing intake and exhaust valves in each group of cylinders after closing the exhaust valves in each group of cylinders when an engine in which the number of cylinders is controlled is shifted from all cylinder running to partial one. CONSTITUTION:In an engine which is controlled with respect to the number of cylinders and consists of cylinders A and D normally run and the idle side cylinders B, C having valve lock units 12a-12d, when an engine load is reduced and a controller 36 generates the signal to direct shift of running from all cylinder running to partial one, each of the lock units 12a-12d is driven after the completion of closing of an exhaust valve 6 in cylinders B, C to keep closing intake and exhaust valves 4, 6 in the cylinders B, C. Thus, burnt gas amount remaining in the combustion chambers 3 of cylinders B, C is small so that the rotational frequency can be prevented from reduction. |
