PRODUCTION OF GRAFT COPOLYMER RESIN

PURPOSE:To provide the titled resin having high grafting ratio and giving a clear coating film, by reacting a cellulose acetate butyrate with the ester of maleic acid, etc., and copolymerizing the resultant specific cellulose acetate butyrate with a polymerizable monomer. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin is produced by copolymerizing (A) a cellulose acetate butyrate having copolymerizable double bond and obtained by the reaction of a cellulose acetate butyrate with the mono- or diester of maleic acid or fumaric acid (preferably monobutyl maleate, dibutyl fumarate, etc.) with (B) a polymerizable monomer (preferably styrene, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, etc.). The amounts of the component A and the component B are preferably 1-95wt% and 5-99wt%, respectively. EFFECT:It has high compatibility with acrylic resin, polyester, acrylic resin having high styrene content, etc., and has excellent solubility in solvents.
