PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate of agricultural chemicals and pharmaceuticals, easily, in high yield, by using an easily available imidazoledithiocarboxylic acid as a starting raw material, and condensing the acid with an allyl halide. CONSTITUTION:The imidazoledithiocarboxylic acid of formula II obtained easily from the imidazole compound of formulaI(R2 is H, methyl, ethyl, undecyl, heptadecyl or phenyl; R4 is H or methyl) and carbon disulfide is condensed with an allyl halide such as allyl bromide, allyl chloride, etc. at room temperature - 80 deg.C, and if necessary, the condensation product is subjected to the dehydrohalogenation reaction with a hydrogen halide acceptor to obtain the compound of formula III. The amount of allyl halide and hydrogen halide acceptor is >=1mol equivalent based on 1mol equivalent of the starting material of formula II, however, the use of the allyl halide, etc. in large excess should be avoided in view of economicity.
