METHOD OF REGRINDING CARBIDE CHIP

PURPOSE:To prevent the life of a carbide chip from being shortened, by regriding the share point of the carbide chip to widely remove an affected zone thereof. CONSTITUTION:Outside triangular sections 4 which are formed along diagonal lines 3 in the outer peripheral edge section 2 of a chip 1 are removed. Then the shape and size thereof after grinding are made identical. Affected zones in the chip 1 are removed widely in comparison with the conventional chips, and the man hours for regrinding may be made 1/2. Conventionally, the part which is used for the share point of the chip has occupied substantally a half of the cutting section, is affected by heat, etc. upon grinding, and this affected part causes the chip to be broken so that the life of the chip is shortened. However, with the present method, the affected part is widely and substantially removed, and therefore, the thus ground chip exhibits the same function as that of a new chip, thereby the life of the chip may be prolonged.
