METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HEATING WATER

PURPOSE:To obtain easily and efficiently a large amount of hot water or steam, by using as fuel a combustible gas that can be obtained by the dry distillation of industrial waste such as tire refuse. CONSTITUTION:Combustible material such as tire refuse is supplied via a hopper 13 and a supplying apparatus 14 into a front combustion chamber 3, while combustion air is supplied from a supply pipe 11 via a hearth 5, and the combustible material is ignited by an ignition burner 12 and is subjected to dry distillation so that a combustible gas is produced. Simultaneously with or before the ignition of the burner 12, an ignition burner 16 is ignited, and combustion air that is fed from a blower 22 and a supply column 7 and has been preheated by a cyclone 9. The combustible gas reached the combustion chamber 2 is mixed with the combustion air flowing along the inner circumferential surface of the combustion chamber 2 and is burned, and the heat thereof is transferred to the water in a water jacket 6 surrounding the outer circumference of the combustion chamber 2 to heat the water.
