ROCKET NOZZLE

PURPOSE:To perform the sealing of gas using heat insulating material so as to be free of any adverse influence on equipment caused by penetration of the gas by covering the external face of a nozzle skirt with an internal insulating material and covering the external face thereof with a shaped insulating material having a gas impermeable surface layer. CONSTITUTION:A rocket nozzle has a nozzle skirt 1 shaped out of carbon and carbon compound and has the external face thereof covered with heat insulating material. An internal heat insulating material 18 is fit on the external face of the nozzle skirt 1 and a shaped heat insulating material 19 is fit on the external face of the internal heat insulating material 18. In addition, an impermeable surface layer 20 is formedon both the internal and external peripheral faces of the shaped heat insulating material 19 and the front end face 19a thereof. A sealer 21 is embedded between the shaped heat insulating material 19 and an insulator 3 so as to seal the front end part of the internal heat insulating material 18. Gas G which penetrates through the nozzle skirt 1 is inhibited to disperse by the gas impermeable surface layer 20 of the shaped heat insulating material 19 and discharged outside after passing through the internal heat insulating material 18. It can be dissolved that penetration of gas through the rocket nozzle has an adverse effect on equipment.
