MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To perform the operation well in a special recording and reproducing mode even in the device where a magnetic head is stuck to a rotary cylinder head, by utilizing the time when the magnetic head does not handle a recording and reproducing signal and displacing the magnetic head during this time. CONSTITUTION:A signal of time length T required for 1/N rotation of a rotary head cylinder 1 has the time base compressed so that this signal becomes a signal of a time length Ta when a magnetic head 8 is brought into contact with a magnetic tape 7, and the signal is recorded; and at a reproducing time, the time base is expanded to reproduce the original signal. A differential time (T-Ta) between time lengths T and Ta when the magnetic head 8 does not handle the recording and reproducing signal is utilized, and the magnetic head 8 is displaced during this time (T-Ta), and thus, the operation in a special recording and reproducing mode is performed well even in the magnetic recording and reproducing device where the rotary head cylinder to which the magnetic head is stuck is used.
