MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To improve the linearity of a working gap part and to execute excellent recording and reproduction by forming thin magnetic metallic films in the butt parts of the working gap between the cores of a magnetic head and constituting the working gap part of such thin films. CONSTITUTION:A pair of half blocks 18, 18' for magnetic head cores are constituted by sandwiching and fixing plural sheets of thin magnetic metallic sheets 12 to non-magnetic blocks 10, 11 and the thin magnetic metallic films 19, 19' are formed on the surfaces of such blocks on the side to be formed with the working gap including at least the butt parts of the working gap. The butt parts of the working gap are opposed to each other by such films 19, 19', by which the magnetic head 21 is constituted. A crystalline magnetic alloy of Fe-Si, etc. or a ferromagnetic amorphous alloy of Fe-Co-Si-B, etc. is used for the thin magnetic metallic film 12. Ceramics or the like having the coefft. of thermal expansion approximately equal to the coefft. of thermal expansion possessed by the thin magnetic metallic sheets used in the core part is used for the blocks 10, 11.
