PREPARATION OF POLYOLEFIN

PURPOSE:To prepare a polyolefin having narrow distributions of particle size and molecular weight, and improved characteristics of powder, by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a novel catalytic system. CONSTITUTION:One or more olefins are polymerized in the presence of a novel catalytic system consisting of (A) a solid catalytic component obtained by reacting a uniform solution containing at least one selected from metal magnesium, a hydroxylated organic compound [e.g., CH3OH, (CH3)3SiOH, phenol, etc.] and at least one an oxygen-containing organic compound of Mg {e.g., Mg[Al (OC2H5)4]2, etc.} and at least one oxygen-containing compound of Ti [e.g., Ti(OC2H5)4, etc.] with one or more organoaluminum compounds, followed by reacting the reaction product with one or more halogenated Al compounds, and (B) one or more catalytic components selected from organometallic compounds of metal of groups I a, IIa, IIb, IIIb and IVb of the periodic table.
