METHOD FOR PURIFYING BUTYL ACETATE

PURPOSE:To obtain purified butyl acetate usable as a solvent in producing polyurethane resins without problems in quality change, e.g. coloring, by treating butyl acetate with an ion exchange resin or active carbon. CONSTITUTION:Butyl acetate is purified with an ion exchange resin or active carbon. The treatment is carried out by using any of a fluidized bed, fixed bed or agitated tank. A basic anion exchange resin is preferred for the ion exchange resin, and specifically a strongly basic anion exhcnage resin having exchange groups of -N-(CH3)3X, formula I (X is Cl of hydroxyl group) or formula II, etc. or weakly basic ion exchange resin having exchange groups, e.g. polyamine, -NH(R) (R is methyl, etc.) or NH2 may be cited as the basic anion exchange resin, and the weakly basic anion exchange resin is particularly preferred. Any of granular or powdery active carbon may be used as the active carbon.
