Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:A cation-exchange membrane that is obtained by closely incorporate a fluorine-containing cation-exchange membrane with a water-permeating membrane on one surface, thus permitting high-purity alikali metal hydroxide to deposit in high concentration, as high current efficiency is maintained. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-containing cation-exchange membrane is closely incorporated with a supporting membrane having water permeability of 10- 10cc/hr.cm .cm H2O, preferably 10-5cc/hr.cm . H2O. As the supporting membrane, is preferably used porous neutral membrane or cation-exchange membrane which has electric resistivity of 15, preferably 5ohm/cm in 6.0 N-NaON at 25 deg.C.
